The game follows the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence, 6 months after the previous game, in the mid-14th century. The brothers Amicia and Hugo are now in the south of France, in Provence, far from wars and diseases like Bites. Accompanied by his mother Beatrice and the alchemist’s apprentice Lucas, the group has little peace until the curse in Hugo’s blood, Prima Macula, reawakens. The deeper he goes, the closer he is to death. The only solution will be to look for a mysterious island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea that is clearly calling to him.

During the journey, the characters will again be pursued by the Inquisition, in addition to the hordes of rats that appear in dark places. According to the developers, the mice will use the power of the new generation of consoles so that they look like waves or tsunamis that attack scenarios. During the story, the characters will also have dilemmas such as Amicia, who has become a more capable warrior but violent and vengeful, and Hugo, who is still not in good control of his powers.

The core of the game remains a stealth-focused third-person adventure, but with more action elements in combat for players to decide how they want to face enemies. Areas are also more open and less linear than in the first title.

Users who don’t want to be detected can sneak under furniture such as tables, and the new stealth kill can be used when quietly approaching an enemy from behind. As you progress through the adventure, you’ll be able to learn new skills, stealth or offensive, that will complement your play style.

In addition to her trusty slingshot from A Plague Tale: Innocence, Amicia will also have a crossbow that can be used for quick executions from a distance. Both can use alchemy-crafted ammunition for effects such as smoke bombs or flammable liquids, which can set an enemy on fire. The crossbow can also fire charged arrows to solve puzzles.

Hugo now has some new powers, such as “Echo”, which allows him to see enemies through walls by sensing the pulsation of their blood, just like rats do. He can also summon hordes to eliminate his opponents, just like in the final moments of the first game. As in the original, there are still sequences where the characters need to run away from some danger.

On PC, A Plague Tale: Requiem will support many advanced technologies, including ray tracing for better lighting and high contrast levels. The game will also support Nvidia’s new DLSS 3 technology, for better performance at high resolutions. It will also be possible to use the previous version, DLSS 2.
