BONN (Germany), October 10, 2022—(BUSINESS WIRE)–Deutsche Post DHL Group, the world’s leading logistics company, today announced preliminary results for the third quarter of 2022. The Group’s earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) reached approximately EUR 2.040 billion in the third quarter of 2022. 2022 .(same period in 2021: (compared to EUR 1,771 billion in the same period of the previous year). EUR 5 billion (same period in 2021: (compared to EUR 5,765 billion in the same period a year ago). EBIT guidance for 2022 .(currently: €8 billion +/-5%) will be revised and improved upon the release of the full Q3 2022 earnings report on November 8.
Remittance volumes driven by e-commerce are approaching sharply high levels delivered last year
The group recorded good business development in the third quarter of this year. As expected, the year-over-year comparison of e-commerce-led B2C shipment volumes improved in the third quarter of 2022, after volumes saw a more pronounced decline in the first half of the year. In the context of general macroeconomic uncertainties, B2B transport volume reflects weaker demand. As a result, the capacity situation in the sea and air cargo markets has been reduced. Overall network activities across all DHL divisions maintained good utilization levels, leading to better EBIT.
Express: EBIT in the Express division reached around EUR 1,010 million in the third quarter of 2022, compared to EUR 971 million in the same period of the previous year.
Worldwide shipping, shipping: EBIT in worldwide shipping, cargo amounted to around EUR 585 million in the third quarter of 2022, clearly ahead of the previous quarter’s result of EUR 372 million.
Supply chain: EBIT in the supply chain was around EUR 220 million in the third quarter of 2022, also well above the result for the same period last year, which was EUR 142 million.
E-commerce solutions: E-commerce solutions recorded EBIT of around EUR 85 million in the third quarter of 2022, compared to EUR 91 million in the same period last year.
Mail and parcels, Germany: EBIT in mail and parcels in Germany in the third quarter of 2022 was around EUR 285 million, compared to EUR 300 million in the same period of the previous year.
The continuous positive development of earnings was successfully converted into an increase in free cash flow. Free cash flow in the third quarter of 2022 resulted in more than 1.5 billion euros (compared to 1.257 billion euros in the same period of the previous year).
The full announcement for the third quarter of 2022 will be released as scheduled on November 8, 2022.
