Smurfit Kappa attends Wine South America 2022

Sao Paulo, September 2022 – Smurfit Kappa (www.smurfitkappa.com/br), one of the main suppliers of sustainable packaging in the world, announces that it will participate, for the fifth year in a row, at Wine South America 2022, an event specialized in the wine sector, a benchmark in Latin America. The company with extensive experience in the wine segment will present itself with a stand at the fair from September 21 to 23 in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul.

With a strategic presence in the country, the Smurfit Kappa factory in Bento is keeping up with the growing consumption of wine in Rio Grande do Sul – currently reaching 7 liters per person each year, according to Wine Intelligence. Nationally, wine also showed significant expansion in its regular consumer base in 2021, reaching 51 million people – representing 36% of Brazil’s adult population, according to data from the Brazil Wine Landscapes 2022 study.

Smurfit Kappa, in line with the rise of this market, will be present at the fair with an exclusive stand where the company’s experts will be available to answer questions and demonstrate customized carton packaging for the transport of wine. Currently, the company has a specialized portfolio for the sector, with customized solutions for retail and e-commerce, including strategic design to meet the requirements of warehousing and logistics chain management, Unpack end consumer and exposure on store shelves.

Smurfit Kappa’s packaging for the wine market consists of versatile boxes that work for local retail and throughout the supply chain, developed using proprietary innovation tools (InnoTools). Among the options are solutions eBoca, dedicated to the transport of glass bottles, in which the company combines high efficiency with the best profitability for online sales or in physical stores of customers. In addition, the company has packages for individual bottles or cans of different sizes, designed to ensure safe transportation.

Regional action focused on innovation

The presence of Smurfit Kappa in Bento Gonçalves strengthens Smurfit Kappa’s activities in the country and globally. To improve the production capacity and print quality of the manufacturing unit in the region, the company invested $8.9 million in the location, allocating $1.8 million to a new corrugation machine and $7.1 million to a printer with FFG cutting technology.

Driven by innovation and sustainability, Smurfit Kappa invested in the region to reach new potential markets and expand its portfolio of specialized solutions in different segments. The investment made it possible to increase the quality of cuts and the precision of the developed packaging departments, in addition to increasing the production capacity of solutions ready for shelves (SRP – Shelf Ready Packaging) and packaging for e-commerce with double printing.
